Ron Marlett working onboard the USCGC Winnebago.

1971

This picture of Ron Marlett working on the USCGC Winnebago's starboard deck was taken after the Winnebago returned from a three month patrol; or as the crew called it, "Triple Victor." The Winnebago was home ported at Coast Guard Base Sand Island in Honolulu Harbor. In the distant background behind Ron's right shoulder is a faint image of the Falls of Clyde masts; a historic sailing ship that was in the beginning stages of her restoration. Today the Falls of Clyde is a museum ship permanently moored at the Aloha Tower Marketplace. You can see the fully restored ship at Wikipedia
