USS Oregon by Ron Marlett.

USS Oregon   8" x 10"   October 17, 1993
Ron Marlett painted this portrait of the USS Oregon for the family publishing company that was started by his younger brother Rich. The ship portrait was used to help promote the business, but limited edition prints were never made of the painting. Ron was interested in the ship because it represented one of the United States Navy's first steel constructed battleships. The ship was launched in 1893 and served in the Spanish American War and World War I. The old battleship was dismantled for its valuable steel during World War II, but the final scrapping was not complete until 1956. Ron built a Glencoe 1/225 scale model of the USS Oregon that can be viewed at Ron's Model Ship Gallery. You can buy a poster of this painting at Ron Marlett's Store
