Ron Marlett's younger brother Rich started a publishing company that would create and sell prints of Ron's military paintings. Ron is shown in this picture working on the first painting for the family business. The painting was an illustration of the 54th Massachusetts Regiment leading the attack against a Confederate fort in South Carolina during the Civil War. It took Ron 6 months to paint the picture which he finished on July 18th, the same date of the battle that took place 127 years ago.
