Ron Marlett and his father Howard in the Sea Explorers.

1967

Ron Marlett joined the Sea Explorers when he turned 14 and soon after, his father Howard became involved as the Skipper of Ship 469. In 2 years, Ron advanced up in rank  and became a Quartermaster, which is the equivalent to the Boy Scouts of America's Eagle Scout award. Shortly after this photograph was taken of Howard and Ron in their Sea Scout uniforms, Ron quit the Sea Explorers so that he could begin his surfing career.
