Ron Marlett's portrait of Ensign Bafflestir.

2008

During the last three years of Ron Marlett's enlistment with the Coast Guard, he worked in the public relations office. One of Ron's duties was to draw a cartoon strip called Ensign Bafflestir for the 14th Coast Guard District's news magazine. The cartoon became very popular within the Coast Guard. Years later, Ron drew a portrait of Ensign Bafflestir. The portrait is a parody of a portrait of Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson with the USCGC Winnebago replacing the HMS Victory in the background, and an addition of a hobby table in the foreground.
