Ron Marlett's model of the CSS Alabama.

CSS Alabama   1/96   August 7, 1996
In 1961, Revell released its 1/96 scale model kit of the USS Kearsarge and shortly thereafter, released its companion 1/96 scale CSS Alabama. The Alabama kit was considered by model historians to have been a revision of the Kearsarge model so that it would give a general representation of the real Confederate ship. The Kearsarge and Alabama eventually went out of production, and then Revell rereleased the Alabama in the early 1990s. Ron Marlett's younger brother Rich gave the Alabama model kit to Ron as a gift in hopes that building the model would rekindle Ron's interest in the hobby. It took Ron two years to complete the plastic model which included handmade flags, ratlines, and a furled sail made of nylon. Click on the images below to see detailed views of the ship.
