Ron Marlett working on his painting.

1996

At his Camarillo residence, Ron Marlett worked on the under painting to his piece Classical Still Life with Fauna. A large portion of the painting's outline sketch can be seen on the white canvas. Ron's realistic style consisted of three stages. The first stage was the under painting where Ron painted in the basic colors to all the shapes. In the second stage, Ron turned the painted shapes inot forms by rendering the highlights and shadows. In the final stage, Ron focussed on painting simulated textures to all the forms. Ron worked on the painting for 837 hours until it was finally finished in 1997.
