Ron Marlett holds one of six alley cats that he cared for at his apartment in Waikiki. Ron never gave the cats names. Many of the cats were wounded from cat fights and limped from their injuries. One Saturday when Ron was preparing lunch, all the cats gathered at the kitchen door. Ron turned the stove gas on and then realised that he was out of matches. Ron opened a new match box and lit the match. Enough gas had gathered in the stove to cause a loud explosion. The horrific bang terrified the cats and they all ran off, never to be seen again.
