When the USCGC Winnebago arrived at Ocean Station Victor halfway between Midway Atoll and Japan, the Winnebago would relieve the Coast Guard cutter on station. The Winnebago would remain on station for about 21 days and then be relieved by another Coast Guard cutter. When the crew was not engaged in ship's work, activities were encouraged to help break up the crew's boredom.
