After the USCGC Winnebago
was relieved from Ocean Station Victor halfway between Midway Atoll and
Japan, she headed for Yokosaku, Japan for a scheduled overhaul in
drydock. Ship's work and standing watch were two jobs the crew
continued doing while the Winnebago
was in drydock. In this picture, Ron Marlett was standing messenger of
the watch on the quarterdeck. A coastguardsman who was studying
photography placed a blanket behind Ron so that the photograph would
have a studio look to Ron's portrait.
