Ron Marlett onboard the USCGC Winnebago during highlining with another ship.

1970

During patrol on Ocean Station Victor between Midway Atoll and Japan, the USCGC Winnebago highlined with a Navy destroyer to receive food and mail. Highlining is an operation where a line is rigged between two ships that are underway on the same course. Ron Marlett was a member of the deck force during highline operations. In this picture Ron is waiting for orders to carry food aft that the Navy transferred over to the Winnebago. The Navy and Coast Guard called this type of operation an UNREP, which is the acronym for Underway Replenishment.
