This photograph of Ron
Marlett was taken on the USCGC Winnebago's starboard
bridge wing while he was working on his maintenance responsibilities.
In the background is the famous Aloha Tower. Cleaning and painting were
the two main jobs that seamen performed when the ship was in port. It
would only take a couple of weeks before a freshly painted area of the
ship would begin to show signs of rusting. After spending a year as a
crewman aboard the Winnebago,
Ron was transferred to the 14th Coast Guard District Office where he
worked as a driver and a public relations representative.
