On Ron Marlett's graduation day, Ron's parents and younger brother drove up to Alameda from Canoga Park so they could attend the graduation ceremony. Ron's mother used her Super 8 movie camera to record Ron in the marching band, and after the ceremony, she took some pictures of Ron with her Kodak Duaflex II camera. In this picture, Ron had been dismissed from the band room and met his family on the athletic field. Vera's picture captures the moment when a gust of wind almost blew Ron's hat off his head. Several weeks later, Ron would be at sea aboard the USCGC Winnebago.
