While serving in the 9th Coast Guard District in the 1970s, James Castagnera wrote  a very supporting article about Ron Marlett's Ensign Bafflestir cartoons. After the Coast Guard, Castagnera earned his Masters Degree at Kent State University and his Doctoral Degree at Case Western Reserve University. In 1996, Dr Castagnera began his life-long career at Rider University. In this picture taken in 2007, Dr Castagnera is standing on the Israeli side of the West Bank.
