Ron
Marlett's friend John Best and his wife Rosie commissioned Ron to paint
a portrait of the ship that John and Ron served on during their
enlistment in the Coast Guard. John sent some photographs that he had
of the Winnebago and combined
with Ron's photographs, Ron was able to make an accurate representation
of the cutter's port side as she appeared in 1970. John made a special
request that the ocean would have a lot of froth from breaking waves.
The painting was well received by the Best family and their friends.
John sent Ron this picture of himself, his wife Rosie, and their
daughter Chiara next to Ron's painting of the USCGC Winnebago.
