Crescent Bay 12" x 16" January 15, 2019 |
Ron Marlett painted this small piece from a sketch he made while looking south at Crescent Bay in Laguna Beach, California.
The painting is a strong example of Ron's interest in creating balance
by exaggerating shapes, colors, and light. The clouds were designed so
that their white shapes
balanced the wave's white splash as it hits the rocks in the
foreground. Paints satuarated with linseed oil and loose brush
strokes are prevalent in this small painting. Ron was interested in
allowing the fluid oils to create an impression of the beach rather
than using realistic formulas to render the scene. Return to Gallery |
