Ron Marlett working on his model ship.

2015

Ron Marlett regenerated his interest in model ship building in the 1990s when his brother Rich gave him a plastic model kit of the CSS Alabama. Over the years Ron developed the skill and patience to excel in the art of model ship building and by 2015, he was ready to build a large scale model ship made of wood. The Mack family was impressed by Ron's attention to detail in his maritime paintings and model ships, so they commissioned Ron to build a wooden model of the HMS Victory in 1/84 scale. This picture shows Ron in the beginning stage of the model's construction.  In the picture's background is the partially built ship's false keel with several of its ribs temporally in place.
