During the last three years of Ron Marlett's
enlistment with the Coast Guard, he worked in the public relations office. One
of Ron's duties was to draw a cartoon strip called Ensign Bafflestir for
the 14th Coast Guard District's news magazine. The cartoon became very popular
within the Coast Guard. Years later, Ron drew a portrait of Ensign
Bafflestir. The portrait is a parody of a portrait of Admiral Lord Horatio
Nelson with theUSCGC Winnebago replacing the HMS
Victory in the background, and an addition of a hobby table in the foreground.
