After the completion of Jillian's World,

Marlett's friends Anthony and Susan Mack commissioned Ron to paint
another portrait of their daughter Jillian as a young woman. Photographs were taken of Jillian mimicking the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci. Anthony and Susan were not happy with the photographs because they felt Jillian's Mona Lisa
impersonation did not capture their daughter's beautiful smile. New
photographs were taken and from those pictures, Ron made this sketch of
Jillian. Jillian's Mona Lisa
pose survived the changes, but the composition was flipped for
the original painting so that the painting would fit better in the room
