Nina
Mack, the sister of Ron Marlett's friend Anthony Mack, was born in Los
Angeles, California, in 1963. In 1972, Nina's father, John Mack, moved
his family into a charming English cottage overlooking Crescent Bay in
nearby Laguna Beach. Nina was very popular and developed a long list of
friends that even included the famous marine artist Robert Wyland, who
was known for his large outdoor murals of whales. Ron never met Nina,
as she died in 2012. In
the fall of 2018, Ron painted this small portrait of Nina from a
